AUDIENCE , PURPOSE & CONTEXT

After my research, here are the topic and what i'm gonna do for each of my target audience. All my target audience are malaysian. So, the reason and outcome of the topic is based on malaysians.

KIDS (7-9 years old)

LEARN HOW TO TIE SHOE LACES
I noticed many kids (primary school) don't really wear shoe with laces. Some only start to wear it when they enter high school. Most of them wear shoe with zap because it's fast and easy.
So, my topic is about teaching them how to tie shoe laces. The reason for this is to let the kids learn and get adapt to it. It's easy and fast to learn. Besides that, the children will look more smart and mature wearing shoe with laces.

TEEN (18-25 years old)

CUSTOMIZE A SHOE
The idea for teens is to customize their own shoe. Thy can express their emotions or feelings in their shoe. They can customize almost any part of the shoe.
For example,
adding colors, patterns, fonts , messages, pictures, doodles and many more.

This will bring out the creativity in teens. They can show the world their design and be proud to wear the shoe that they customized themself. Another advantage of this is, the customized shoe will look different.
For example,
if many people are wearing the same type of shoe, the shoe will be very common and it's not special anymore. By customizing their own shoe, they still feel it's different and special.

ONLINE SHOE SHOP
Based on the title above, my idea is to create a GUI that enable the target audience to browse through easily for shoes on sale. They can find information like sales, discount, stock clearance, new shoes, location of shops, brands and many more information about shoes.

With this, it makes their life more easier. They can get what they want. Users happy, sales also happy. It's everything in one page. Full of information. There will be search option and recommended shoes option for the users.
For example,
If i want to search for a sport shoe, i can use the search and recommended option. It saves time and keep me acknowledge.

SHOES

A shoe is a footwear to protect and comfort the human foot while doing various activities.

Shoes had been wore and created for by man for many decades.
The design of shoes has change through time and from culture to culture

Shoes have traditionally been made from leather, wood or canvas, but are increasingly made from rubber, plastics, and other petrochemical-derived materials.

Fashion plays a big role in design elements of a shoe, for example whether shoes have very high heels or flat ones.

Contemporary footwear varies widely in style, complexity and cost.

FOR EXAMPLE:
-Sandals may consist of only a thin sole and simple strap.

-High fashion shoes may be made of very expensive materials and sell for thousands of dollars a pair.

-Other shoes are for specific use, for example,boots specially designed for mountaineering or skiing.

Parts of shoes

A shoe have many parts just like the human body. Here are they:

Sole
The bottom of a shoe is called the sole.

Insole
The insole is the interior bottom of a shoe, which sits directly beneath the foot under the footbed

Outsole
The outsole is the layer in direct contact with the ground

Midsole
The layer in between the outsole and the insole that is typically there for shock absorption

Heel
The bottom rear part of a shoe is the heel. Its function is to support the heel of the foot.

Vamp/upper
Every shoe has an upper part that helps hold the shoe onto the foot. In the simplest cases, such as sandals or flip-flops, this may be nothing more than a few straps for holding the sole in place

Lateral/medial
The outside part of the shoe is referred to as the lateral and the inside facing part of the shoe is the medial

ACCESSORIES

Here are the accessories for shoe. It makes a shoe better and more comfortable to wear. These accessories are cheap and they come in many designs.

* Shoehorn:
can be used to insert a foot into a shoe by keeping the shoe open and providing a smooth surface for the foot to slide upon.

* Shoe tree:
placed inside the shoe when user is not wearing it, to help maintain the shoe's shape.

* Heel grip:
used to prevent the shoe from slipping on the heel if the fit is not perfect

* Foam tap:
a small foam pad placed under the ball of the foot to push the foot up and back if the shoe is too loose.

* Shoe polishing equipment:
a waxy material spread on shoes to improve appearance, glossiness, and provide protection.


* Overshoes or galoshes:
a rubber covering placed over shoes for rain and snow protection.

* (Orthopedic) shoe insert:
insert of various materials for cushioning, improved fit, or reduced abrasion. These include padding and inner linings. Inserts may also be used to correct foot problems.

* Shoe bag:
a bag that protects shoes against damage when they are not being worn.

* Shoe stretcher:
a tool for making a shoe longer or wider or for reducing discomfort in areas of a shoe.

* Snow shoe: a wooden or leather piece which increases the area of ground covered by the shoe.

* Shoelaces: a system used to secure shoes.

So, besides comfort, a shoe protects our feet from bacteria or from it getting damage. Shoe plays a big role in health and hygiene. Without shoes, most of the people out there will have feet diseases.

EMOTIONS

Emotions are very complex experiences. We experience it everyday. Emotions are hard to describe and control.

For example, when someone is happy, he/she will get very excited and in a good mood.

These are the 6 basic emotions:

-Fear
-Joy
-Love
-Surprise
-Anger
-Sadness

Basic emotions are also known as primary emotions. Then there are secondary and tertiary emotions too. Here is a link for the chart

EXPRESSING EMOTIONS

With emotions, human express it with art.

This type of art is known as expressionist art.
Artist use art as a medium to mediate their emotions/feelings to their audience. Every piece of artwork tells a story/emotion or idea. An artwork can bring emotional response to the viewer.

FOR EXAMPLE,
Famous art painting like the "Monalisa shows emotion to the audience. Some people say she is crying while some say she is smiling. Whatever the emotions is, the artist succeed to show his emotion through his artwork.

Abstract Expressionists believed that :
the best way to express pure emotions was to create nonobjective or totally abstract artworks in which colors, lines, shapes, and textures directly conveyed their emotional state.

By using colors, lines, shapes and textures, it stimulates the eye by making things more interesting.

EXPRESSIONISM

It is a term used to denote the use of distortion and exaggeration for emotional effect



Expressionism is exhibited in many art forms:

-music

Expressionism is an artistic style in which the artist attempts to depict not objective reality but rather the subjective emotions and responses that objects and events arouse in him.

In this style, we can see that most of the art are done in:

distortion
exaggeration
primitivism
fantasy
jarring
violent
dynamic application of formal elements

We can see that abstract art also uses expressionism because it is done in distortion , exaggeration, fantasy and many more. Expressionism that is apply to art makes an artwork more interesting and contains feeling as we all know that normal is boring.

By exaggerating, it's different and special which is why it can caught the audience's attention.

Color , shapes and lines

Color , shapes and lines are 3 of the basic elements of art. It makes an artwork more interesting.

Color give an artwork the mood, feeling and temperature.

Shapes define objects in space. It creates height, width and depth.

Lines are the moving point of an artwork. Lines consist of thickness or thinness,fluidity,rigidness, and lightness or darkness.

FOR EXAMPLE,

If i want to express an angry emotion, i will use RED color, thick ,messy lines and shapes with sharp edges.

By using the proper shapes, colors and lines, a wonderful artwork can be produce.

CONCLUSION

From my studies, i conclude that :

Emotions are very complex experiences

So , I will use emotion and expressionism to produce expressionist art. I'll produce an abstract and non abstract work that is suitable for the target audience of age 18-25 . I will also apply color,shapes and lines.

I'll apply this kind of lines :

-fluidity
-rigidness
-lightness or darkness

For the shape and color, I will use suitable colors that will suit with my caption.

I choose this caption because it is short, simple and straight to the point. This caption contains the emotion of ENTHUSIASM. I want to sent a message about enthusiasm to my target audience. This is because, many people at the age of 18-25 are always doesn't have the passion to do things.

Enthusiasm equals passion. I want my target audience to be motivated and inspired to become enthusiastic.

When they feel enthusiastic, nothing can stop them!

Colors , shapes and lines are the basic elements of art .

They are common things we see everyday. What is so special with it is we use it to express emotions. All of them contains symbolism and psychology.

COLORS

	Red has more personal associations than any other color. Recognized as a stimulant, red is inherently exciting and the amount of red is directly related to the level of energy perceived. Red draws attention, and a keen use of red as an accent can immediately focus attention on a particular element. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
	Orange a close relative of red, sparks more controversy than any other hue. There is usually strong positive or negative association to orange and true orange generally elicits a stronger "love it" or "hate it" response than other colors. 	Yellow shines with optimism, enlightenment, and happiness. Shades of golden yellow carry the promise of a positive future. Yellow will advance from surrounding colors and instill optimism and energy, as well as spark creative thoughts. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
	Green occupies more space in the spectrum visible to the human eye than most colors, and is second only to blue as a favorite color. Green is the pervasive color in the natural world, making it an ideal backdrop in interior design because we are so used to seeing it everywhere. The natural greens, from forest to lime, are seen as tranquil and refreshing, with a natural balance of cool and warm (blue and yellow) undertones. Green is considered the color of peace and ecology. However, there is an "institutional" side to green, associated with illness and government-issued green cards, that conjures up negative emotions, as do the "slimy" or "bilious" greens. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
	Blue is the overwhelming "favorite color." Blue is seen as trustworthy, dependable, and committed. The color of ocean and sky, blue is perceived as a constant in our lives. Electric or brilliant blues become dynamic and dramatic -- an engaging color that expresses exhilaration. Some shades of blue may come across as cold or uncaring. Indigo, a deeper blue, symbolizes a mystical borderland of wisdom, self-mastery, and spiritual realization. So, while blue is typically the color of communication with others, indigo turns the blue inward to increase personal thought, profound insights, and instant understandings. 	Purple embodies the balance of red's stimulation and blue's calm. Gray is controlled and inconspicuous and is considered a color of compromise, perhaps because it sits between the extremes of black and white. 	Black is authoritative and powerful; because black can evoke strong emotions, too much can be overwhelming. Black represents a lack of color, the primordial void, emptiness. It is a classic color for clothing, possibly because it makes the wearer appear thinner and more sophisticated. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
	White projects purity, cleanliness, and neutrality. Doctors don white coats, brides traditionally wear white gowns, and a white picket fence surrounds a safe and happy home.

Colors can create mood and feelings to an artwork. The colors we used will influence the audience on how they feel. So, we must be wise on the choice of color we choose as it will affect our artwork.

LINES


Lines Can be Used to Express Emotion
It can express different moods based on :

"Line is a formal element of art that appears in most two-dimensional artworks. It can be used in many different ways within art. Understanding how to use lines to can aid an artist in constructing a visually-effective composition."

HOW TO EXPRESS LINES?

Lines within a work of art can either be curvilinear or rectilinear.

-Curvilinear lines

Often referred to as organic lines and they are curvy and free-flowing. Curvilinear can create a soft natural feel within a work of art. Curvilinear lines are commonly seen in artwork depicting the female form. A dominant use of curvilinear lines is also often evident in art neauveau works that project a sense of warmth and a connection to the natural world.

-Rectilinear lines

Are those that are geometric in style. Rectilinear lines are straight and clear with pointed angles. Rectilinear lines can create a harsh and energetic feeling to an artwork. Cubist work such as Picasso's Guernica employs a dominant use of rectilinear lines to express an organized sense of chaos.

SHAPES

Shape and form define objects in space

Shapes have two dimensions—height and width—and are usually defined by lines. Forms exist in three dimensions, with height, width, and depth.

Form has depth as well as width and height. Three-dimensional form is the basis of sculpture, furniture, and decorative arts. Three-dimensional forms can be seen from more than one side, such as this sculpture of a rearing horse.


Shape involves form and space. They work together to make a good artwork.
